Joining the ATA is a progressive and exciting leap in your training journey. The ATA programme takes you through a possible 7 tiers of trick dog awards from Intro to Champion but… and this is where ATA gets really interesting! There are 3 ways to progress through the levels!

ONLINE ENTRIES
Skills Assessments – Once you have reached the required standard in a particular skill your can request a Skills Assessment, these tricks are performed in class but under test conditions. Once the required numbers of Skills has been completed for the relevant tier the Award will be issued. This is a non-competitive route.
Competition Performances – These are fun trials where Awards are entered to display the relevant collection of skills in one session/performance. Awards are issued based on the presented skills meeting the tier requirements, in addition entries are scored and rosettes are presented to the top three scoring teams on the day.
Online Distance Entries – There is also an option for people around the UK to join ATA without attending classes or competitions. You can register with ATA just like everyone else and still achieve your tier Awards. In order to claim your Awards your entry must be filmed and submitted for review. This can be done either as a Skills Assessment with separate videos or as a Performance entry in one video, please note there are currently no placings available for online Performance entries.
Each tier can be achieved via any route for example you may earn Intro as a Skills Assessment to build your confidence, then Beginner as a Performance Entry but then find it easier to do Trier online due to a change in circumstance. There is no fixed route and you aren’t tied in to one particular progression method.
Everyone’s journey starts the same… registration with ATA. Following registration you will receive your personal Training Log book and progression guide, this will include your registration number and all the information you will need to take you through all of the 7 tiers available.
Tricks consist of a variety of HTM cues, TV/Movie actions, foundation tricks, assistance dog exercises and much more, plus the lists are always growing!
Because ATA has been designed to be flexible in progression routes, available tricks and timelines (there are none! You work at your own pace) it is made to be truly accessible to every dog and handler. Other programmes may have limitations around the dogs size, dog and handler mobility and even accessibility in terms of the space you have to train, but not ATA!
What is important at ATA is quality! Awards can only be completed for correctly performed skills that have been trained to a high standard. The ATA dogs are the elite of TTP, able to work without lures, at distances and through complex tricks and cues.
Training is available through group classes on Fridays at 7pm at the TTP Training Hall, at Skills Sessions held one Saturday a month in Marehay and via 1to1 sessions.
Performance Competitions are held throughout the year at various locations depending on the tiers competing. Skills Assessments can be achieved at normal training sessions and 1to1s.
